Iceland 2027 Group Trip

It’s no secret—I’m passionate about fly fishing in Iceland! After years of visiting multiple times each season and exploring its diverse fisheries, I’ve come to know the regions and the best opportunities for anglers. That’s why I’m excited to announce my 2027 hosted trip to Iceland—a true trophy fly fishing adventure. We’ll target Atlantic salmon, massive brown trout, and powerhouse Arctic char. This PRIME week is perfectly timed for world-class Atlantic salmon fishing and also offers incredible chances to connect with trophy brown trout and Arctic char.

In 2024, 2025, and 2026, my group trips featured 8 anglers chasing Atlantic salmon…and EVERY angler on my trips has landed an Atlantic salmon on the Mýrarkvísl River. Read about this special salmon river: HERE To further add to this fun, the outfitter I work with recently gained the fishing rights on a one-of-a-kind fishing destination, the Litlaá River. It’s renowned for clear, steady flows and a stunning natural setting…and trophy brown trout and Arctic char!

In collaboration with Iceland Fishing Guide, I have put together an experience unlike any I’ve hosted previously. Over the course of a week, you will fish two of the most unforgettable rivers in Iceland: The Mýrarkvísl River for Atlantic salmon and the Litlaá River for trophy brown trout and Arctic char, plus opportunities for sea-run brown trout and sea-run Arctic char. There’s even a BONUS spot above the Litlaá River, Earthquake Lake, known for massive brown trout and Arctic char. Look over the itinerary below for more information. Long Hill Fishing Lodge overlooks the **Mýrarkvísl River** and serves as our home for the second half of the trip. **Newly renovated in 2026**, the lodge offers a warm, comfortable setting just steps from some of northern Iceland’s incredible fishing.

Fishing with like-minded anglers nearly guarantees that by the end of the week, we’ve established friendships that last years. It was an honor to fish with everyone in this picture. Speaking of which, EVERY angler in this picture landed at least two Atlantic salmon!

Mýrarkvísl fishing format: Two anglers fish each beat with one guide and share one active rod, alternating turns throughout the session. This traditional salmon-fishing format gives each angler dedicated time on the water while also reducing fishing pressure throughout the river system. By resting the water between anglers, salmon are disturbed less, ultimately creating better fishing opportunities for everyone throughout the week.

Icelandic brown trout are spectacular fish. Preferred fly fishing methods on the Litlaá River include dry flies and streamers.

August 4: Akureyri Arrival

11:50 am - Arrive in Akureyri and picked up by our guides
Lunch in town, then transfer to the Árnes Lodge.

August 7: Two River Experience

August 8: Full fishing day

Travel provided to the Akureyri Airport or you can also be setup with a rental to sightsee back to Reykjavík.

BONUS: Earthquake Lake & The Goat River!

While fishing the Litlas River, we also have access to the Lake Skjálftavatn, known as Earthquake Lake. This hidden gem offers anglers the chance to target trophy-class Arctic char and brown trout in a dramatic volcanic setting. This glacial lake is known for producing exceptionally large fish, with char and trout that fight as hard as they look. Each session here holds the possibility of connecting with the fish of a lifetime.

When at the Mýrarkvísl Lodge, anglers also have access to the Geitafellsá River, loaded with Arctic char and brown trout. Anglers can catch upwards of 20 Arctic char and brown trout per session. This is a small river, connecting the Kringluvatn and Langavatn Lakes. We also have access to fish the Langavatn Lake where the river runs in.

Together, Lake Skjálftavatn and the Geitafellsá River provide special opportunities for anglers who want to step off the main program and pursue something extraordinary—whether it’s sheer numbers or the chance at a fish of a lifetime.

The cost of this experience is 1,581,250 ISK, which is $12,867, based on the exchange as of August 2026. This includes full catering, accommodations, fishing licenses, guides, and travel once in Akureyri. Regarding payment, 50% is due at confirmation, then the additional 50% is due March 2027. Alcohol - If you’d like to enjoy a drink, we recommend purchasing it at the duty-free store at the airport or in Akureyri; your guide can stop on the way to the lodge.
