Silver Salmon

One of the most fun salmon on a fly rod, silver salmon enter the Mulchatna River in early August. Once there, these fish are aggressive, eating streamers, eggs, and even foam dry flies. They strike with force and fight like crazy, the perfect fish to target in Alaska!

Alaska 2024 Group Trip

Ask any angler about their fly fishing bucket list, Alaska will always be there. And for good reason, the sights, people, and fish of Alaska are unforgettable. With this in mind, I’ve put together a fly fishing trip full of incredible experiences in a remote wilderness, and yes, there are lots of fish to catch! Working with Alaskan Remote Adventure, this trip checks every box on your list. Now I am pleased to announce my 2024 Alaska group trip, focusing on silver salmon during their PRIME week on the Mulchatna River: August 6 - 13.

Over the course of a week, you will fish tributaries to the Mulchatna River, concentrating on silver salmon, sockeye salmon, wild rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and Arctic grayling. If King salmon are still in the system, you’ll be able to target them, too. But don’t forget the remote aspect to this trip, which includes a caravan plane flying us over the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, then out float plane bringing us to the lodge! There’s even a BONUS opportunity to fish Moraine Creek for TROPHY rainbow trout amongst the bears. Look over the itinerary below for more information.

King salmon

Catching a King salmon on the fly is the goal in July, this one landed on an 8-weight in a tributary to the Mulchatna River. Unlike other rivers in Alaska, this one provides multiple opportunities for wading…and catching some incredible fish!

BONUS: Moraine Creek Fly-out

From the lodge, we also have a fly-out option to Moraine Creek. Full of trophy-sized rainbow trout, this creek is humbling challenging, and mesmerizing all at the same time. Wild rainbows fill the stream, downstream from the salmon as their eggs get dropped. You will have an incredible trip to Alaska if not flying out to Moraine, but this location is guaranteed to enhance your bucket list trip.

Though not listed in our daily agenda, this experience can be arranged to take the place of one of your above sessions at an additional charge for the fly-out.

Moraine Creek makes for a “change of pace” in between chasing salmon on the Mulchatna. Plus, you will see bears at Moraine Creek, making it an unforgettable experience in Alaska.
